Ambassador Wilson Mutagaywa Kajumula Masilingi before his appointment in August, 2015 as the United Republic of Tanzania’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the United States of America, was Ambassador to the Kingdom of the Netherlands from March 2013.
Before joining Diplomacy he served as a Member of Parliament from 1995 to 2010, as well, as Cabinet Minister in the President’s Office responsible for Good Governance from 1998-2005.
Before joining politics he served in the Judiciary Department as a Resident Magistrate and Resident Magistrate In-Charge (1984-1989). In 1990 he joined private legal practice (Advocate) in the High Court and Court of Appeal and got employed as Head of a Legal Division advising the National Environment Management Council (NEMC) until 1995. In October 1995 he was elected a Member of Parliament for Muleba South Constituency. He also served as a Member of the University of Dar es Salaam Governing Council from 1996-1998, representing the Parliament of Tanzania until when he was appointed a Cabinet Minister in the President’s Office responsible for Good Governance. He was also trusted by fellow Parliamentarians electing him the Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee responsible for Foreign Affairs, Defence and Security (A Committee with a responsibility to exercise oversite functions to five Ministries, namely, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation; Ministry of Internal Affairs; Ministry of Defence and National Service; and Ministry of East African Cooperation) until 2010.
Ambassador Masilingi is a graduate from the University of Dar es Salaam Law School and The George Washington University Law School where he obtained his Bachelor of Laws and Master of Laws Degrees in 1983 and 1995 respectively.
Ambassador Masilingi is married to Marystella Edward Ndibalema and they have two grown up children Nelson and Ma-Yustina.
